Courtney Arnes

Rehabilitation Intern

Courtney’s past experience encompasses comprehensive care for both wild and domestic animals across rehabilitation, veterinary, and behavioral settings. She has lived in a number of states including California, Nevada, Montana, and has even spent some time in the Grand Canyon! She has cared for a variety of birds and small mammals as a volunteer at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care Inc, but has also worked alongside the veterinary team at a domestic clinic and monitored behavioral interactions at a dog daycare center. After her internship with Salish Wildlife Rescue, Courtney plans to pursue her veterinary technician license in Oregon. She is also currently working on a paper about the natural history and behavior of Great horned owls.

Outside of work, Courtney is a big fan of the outdoors and enjoys hiking and camping. She loves all wildlife but has a soft spot for owls, wolves, and raccoons. She is super excited to get her hands dirty and explore the island!
